2 Minn. priests taking leaves of absences

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — The Archdiocese of St. Paul & Minneapolis says two priests are taking leaves of absence for prior misconduct.

KARE-TV reports the Roman Catholic archdiocese made the announcement late Sunday. The church identified the two priests as the Rev. David Barrett, assistant pastor at the Church of St. Wenceslaus in New Prague, and the Rev. Paul Moudry, pastor of St. Margaret Mary in Golden Valley.

The archdiocese says the two priests volunteered to take leaves of absence and that neither of them had committed misconduct involving children. It did not explain what the misconduct entailed.

A woman who says a priest molested her in the mid-1980s sued the archdiocese last month, saying church officials knew the man was dangerous because he previously confessed to abusing another child.
