A fractured leg, stalking incident and more in this week’s Public Safety briefs

An ongoing fraud investigation, which began on Jan. 24, was closed on Feb. 4. A St. Thomas student reported being the victim of attempted financial fraud via a fraudulent employment application.

On Feb. 5 at 1:06 a.m. Public Safety recorded a theft on the 900 block of Nicollet Mall. An unidentified suspect stole a St. Thomas student’s cell phone, which was later returned to her by the Minneapolis Police Department.

On Feb. 5 at 7:45 a.m. Public Safety and the St. Paul Fire Department responded to a distressed St. Thomas student in Dowling Residence Hall. The underage student was intoxicated and transported to a hospital for further care.

On Feb. 5 at 7:45 a.m. Public Safety documented a drug law violation in Dowling Residence Hall. A St. Thomas student was in possession of drug paraphernalia.

On Feb. 5 at 8:38 p.m. Public Safety and the St. Paul Police Department responded to suspicious activity on the 1900 block of Laurel Avenue. A St. Thomas student reported a vehicle idling for an extending period a time in the alleyway.

On Feb. 5 at 3:29 p.m. Public Safety recorded a narcotics violation on the 900 block of Nicollet Mall in response to an arrest made by the Minneapolis Police Department. A non-St. Thomas affiliated suspect was arrested for shoplifting and was in possession of narcotics.

An ongoing harassment case, which began on Oct. 26, is under continued investigation. Public Safety and the Minneapolis Police Department documented stalking in Minneapolis Opus Hall. A St. Thomas student reported ongoing harassment and threats from another St. Thomas student.

On Feb. 7 at 8:20 a.m. Public Safety and St. Paul Fire Department Medics responded to a fallen St. Thomas employee in Murray-Herrick Campus Center. The employee was transported to a hospital for further care.

On Feb. 7 at 11:48 a.m. Public Safety and the St. Paul Fire Department responded to a medical situation in the Lower Quad. A St. Thomas student suffered a fractured leg and was transported to a hospital for further care.
