Minnesota residents gathered by the hundreds to participate in the state’s second-ever caucus, including students from the University of St. Thomas.
Sanders takes Minnesota’s DFL caucus
Hundreds of thousands of Minnesotans flocked to the caucuses Tuesday night, giving Sen. Bernie Sanders more than 60 percent of the Minnesota vote in the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party caucus.
Rubio takes Minnesota’s GOP caucus
Minnesotans joined 11 other states in the Super Tuesday caucuses and primaries, giving Sen. Marco Rubio his only win of the night.
GOP reports record turnout in Minnesota caucuses
Spokeswoman Katie Boyd says the party has counted 79,000 participants so far with only about 70 percent of results in. She says that is 15,000 more than in the record year of 2008. Democrats also reported very heavy turnout Tuesday but haven’t yet given numbers.

Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton swept through the South on Super Tuesday, with the front-runners claiming victory in their parties’ primaries in delegate-rich Georgia, Tennessee and Virginia. Clinton also carried Texas, the night’s biggest prize.
