Public Safety briefs – Feb. 25, 2016

On Feb. 17 at 1:34 p.m. Public Safety documented suspicious activity in the Morrison Hall Public Safety Office. A St. Thomas employee reported a non-affiliated person sent a complaint to University Relations regarding offensive comments a student posted on social media.

On Feb. 18 at 10:36 p.m. Public Safety responded to public urination outside of the Anderson Athletic and Recreation Complex. An underage St. Thomas student was found to have consumed alcohol and possessed a fake ID.

On Feb. 18 at 11:37 p.m. Public Safety assisted Residence Life with a welfare check in O’Shaughnessy-Frey Library. A St. Thomas student, reported as being in crisis, was located by Residence Life staff and officers in the library and was safe.

On Feb. 18 at 11:44 p.m. Public Safety and the St. Paul Police Department responded to disorderly conduct in Morrison R1 Parking Garage. An intoxicated underage student assaulted two female guests and fought with officers and was arrested and later sent home with parents.

On Feb. 19 at 5:00 p.m. Public Safety documented a hit and run in Lot G. A St. Thomas employee reported his parked vehicle was struck and damaged.

On Feb. 19 at 1:00 p.m. Public Safety documented a theft at the Anderson Athletic and Recreational Complex. A St. Thomas student reported her boots were stolen from an unsecured locker.

On Feb. 19 at 12:50 p.m. Public Safety documented a hit and run motor vehicle accident in Lot P. A St. Thomas employee reported his parked vehicle was struck, causing minor damage to the passenger side of the vehicle.

On Feb. 20 at 12:19 a.m. Public Safety assisted Residence Life with an odor of marijuana in Ireland Residence Hall. A source for the odor could not be determined, but an underage student was found in possession of alcohol.

On Feb. 20 at 11:37 p.m. Public Safety and St. Paul Fire Department Medics responded to a medical near Summit Avenue and Finn Street. A St. Thomas student who slipped on ice and struck his head was later taken by a friend to an area hospital for further medical attention.

On Feb. 21 at 2:38 a.m. Public Safety assisted a St. Thomas student outside of Murray-Herrick Campus Center. The student’s non-affiliated underage friend, initially reported as missing, was later found significantly intoxicated in MHC and was sent home with a parent.

On Feb. 21 at 6:16 a.m. Public Safety reported suspicious activity on the Lot B drive aisle. A St. Thomas student’s vehicle was left parked on the aisle and in other restricted areas on campus several times for excessive periods of time.

On Feb. 21 at 12:30 p.m. Public Safety documented a theft in Ireland Residence Hall. Residence Life staff reported a St. Thomas owned night access table was stolen.

On Feb. 21 at 11:32 p.m. Public Safety assisted Residence Life with a suspicious odor in Murray Residence Hall. A St. Thomas student was found to be burning candles in violation of university policy.

On Feb. 22 at 2:47 a.m. Public Safety responded to a disturbance in Grace Residence Hall. Three underage guests of a student, two of whom had consumed alcohol and had attempted to access a second student’s room were identified by officers and trespassed from campus.

On Feb. 22 at 7:25 a.m. Public Safety documented property damage on Sabo Plaza. A St. Thomas employee reported several landscaping lights appeared to have been intentionally damaged.

On Feb. 22 at 1:57 p.m. Public Safety assisted a St. Thomas student with a welfare check in Flynn Residence Hall. The student’s roommate, who the student was attempting to locate, was later determined to be at home and was OK.

On Feb. 22 at 7:50 p.m. Public Safety and the St. Paul Police Department responded to a suspicious person in the O’Shaughnessy-Frey Library Center. A non-affiliated person who caused a disturbance and was reported as viewing pornography was removed from campus.
