COVID-19 UPDATE: 6 new cases, 87% vaccination rate

Six positive COVID-19 cases were reported by St. Thomas’ Center for Well-Being during the first week of classes.

Five cases were students and one was an employee. Two cases came from the Minneapolis campus and four came from the St. Paul campus.

The Center for Well-Being also reported that St. Thomas currently has an 87% vaccination rate.

As of September 13, 92% of university employees are vaccinated and 85.9% of students are vaccinated.

The Minnesota Department of Health reported September 9 that 3,352,357 Minnesotans have had at least one vaccine dose, and 3,163,785 have completed the vaccine series. 68.8% of Minnesotans age 18 and up have completed the vaccine series.

According to the COVID-19 Dashboard, the cases are within a manageable range and there is no evidence of transmission inside the classroom.

St. Thomas releases COVID-19 data every Monday, and it is available on the COVID-19 Dashboard which includes information about reporting positive cases and getting vaccinated.
