Eyo Ekpo earns sixth career All-American honor

Eyo Ekpo secured his sixth career All-America performance Friday with his 6-9, sixth place, high jump performance in the D-III NCAA track and field championship in La Crosse, Wis.

Ekpo’s jump earned three points for the St. Thomas team. He will also compete in Saturday’s triple jump event.

The two-day decathlon event closed Friday with Maxwell Dunne and Gavin Yseth placing 10th and 11th, respectively. Dunne’s 6,454 points and Yseth’s 6,308 points were just shy of team scoring totals.

Cody Jerabek missed qualifying for the 100 meter dash nine-man final round with his 10.85 in the preliminary race Friday. Jerabek ran .14 over his season best time of 10.71.

No Tommie women competed Friday; however, seven will take the track Friday in the final rounds of the 4×100 relay, 4×400 relay, the triple jump and the 1,500 meter and 5,000 meter races.
