Football struggles, trails St. John’s 19-7 at half

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Despite having a strong start in the first quarter and a 92-yard touchdown run by halfback Josh Parks, the No. 3 St. Thomas football entered the half trailing St. John’s 19-7.

Tommies half back Josh Parks led the Tommies rushing with 155 yards. After his 92-yard scamper, he was held to 66 yards on 11 carries.

Quarterback Jacques Perra struggled against a stout Johnnie defense and completed 8 of 17 pass attempts for 81 yards. He was picked off three times and sacked once.

Despite throwing two interceptions, Johnnie quarterback Jackson Erdmann completed 17 of 34 passes for 292 yards. He connected with wide receiver Andrew VanErp for a 44-yard touchdown in the second quarter.

St. Thomas has won the last four matchups against St. John’s.
