Junior defenseman Ethan Gauer received the weekly CCHA award after scoring two goals in the St. Thomas men’s hockey team’s series against No. 18 Penn State from Oct. 20-21.

Though the Tommies lost both games 6-2 and 3-2, Gauer’s efforts did not go unnoticed.

Gauer netted his first goal with 0.4 seconds left in the second period of Thursday’s game while blocking on defense. He scored another goal on Friday, tying the Tommies with the Nittany Lions 2-2, helping send the game into overtime.

Gauer received the first weekly award for the men’s hockey this season, a kickoff to the anticipation for the rest of the season.
