News in :90 – April 11, 2022

Russia claims that it destroyed several air defense systems in Ukraine over the weekend. It appears to be a renewed push to gain air superiority and take out weapons Kyiv has described as crucial. In one strike announced today…Moscow said it hit four S-300 launchers provided by a European country it didn’t name. However, Slovakia gave Ukraine such a system last week and denied it had been destroyed.

Starting today, students will be in school for 42 minutes longer due to the Minneapolis teacher strike. That will make up five of the 15 days of lost learning when teachers and support professionals went on strike March 8th.

Some 29,000 students and about 4,500 educators and staff in one of Minnesota’s largest school districts will have ten extra days added to the end of the school year, extending it until june 24th.

Members of the St. Thomas’ Undergraduate Student Government feels the university community needs to better understand their positions as the 2022-23 elections draw near. Intent to run packets for the upcoming election are due Wednesday, April 13th.

Each USG position is open to any current first-year, sophomore or junior. To complete the intent to run packet, which can be found on the USG Tommie-Link page, students will need to obtain 50 signatures from St. Thomas community members to endorse their candidacy.
