Former Vice President Joe Biden formally announced his 2020 presidential bid this morning. Biden posted a video on Twitter focusing on the violent conflict between white supremacists and counter protestors in Charlottesville, Virginia in 2017, criticizing the response of Donald Trump and announcing that the country is at a cultural turning point.

This will be Biden’s fourth presidential bid. The New York Times reports 20 Democrats are now in the race.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un met for a summit in eastern Russia. During the summit, the two leaders announced that North Korea would be willing to surrender its nuclear weapons, if first given concrete national security guarantees.

Putin, who is next headed to Beijing to meet with Chinese leaders, said the guarantees should be backed by multiple countries.

Abby Heller has been chosen as the speaker for the 2019 undergraduate commencement ceremony, which is scheduled for May 25.

Heller is a Neuroscience major, an Excel! research scholar, operations manager for Residence Life, and a member of the Luann Dummer Center for women advisory board.

Heller’s speech is titled “The Power of Changing.”
