Israeli forces battled Palestinian militants in Gaza on Monday, with civilians trapped in the fight even after hundreds of thousands have fled to other parts of the territory. Israel has pledged to keep fighting until it removes Hamas from power.

Students, lawmakers and religious leaders joined forces Sunday at a temple in Philadelphia to denounce antisemitism on college campuses and in their communities.

A sophomore at the University of Pennsylvania discussed his experience with what he called the rise in antisemitism on the school’s campus. He cited a Jewish fraternity being defaced with graffiti and spoke of friends who no longer wear yarmulkes on campus out of fear. 

More Americans are expected to travel farther from home over Christmas than last year. It’s predicted that the holiday season will still fall 3% short of record travel in 2019, the last Christmas before COVID-19 hit the United States.
