A St. Paul police officer was shot in the leg and the suspect was critically injured in a shooting Thursday afternoon. The shooting took place near Cretin and Marshall avenues around 2:00PM. Police arrived at the scene after receiving a call from a woman who reported an armed man following her and violating a protection order.

When confronting the armed man, the suspect shot the officer in the leg. The officer returned fire, critically injuring him.

Both the officer and suspect were taken to Regions Hospital for medical treatment. No one else was reported to be injured. The BCA is currently investigating the incident.

Rocket attacks on the U.S. The Embassy in Baghdad caused minor damage but no casualties earlier this morning.

Iran-backed militias in Iraq have claimed responsibility for dozens of attacks on U.S. facilities. The U.S. military says 78 attacks have been carried out over the past weeks, of which 37 were in Iraq and 41 in Syria.

In the United States, President of Harvard University Claudine Gay, has apologized for her remarks at a congressional hearing on antisemitism, after failing to properly denounce threats of violence against Jewish students.

In an interview Thursday with The Crimson student newspaper, Gay clarified her response when asked whether calling for the genocide of Jews would violate Harvard’s code of conduct. Gay said at the hearing it depended on the context.

She told the Crimson she was sorry and added “threats to our Jewish student— have no place at Harvard, and will never go unchallenged.”
