A 15-year-old sophomore opened fire at his Michigan high school Tuesday, killing three students and wounding eight others, authorities said.

Deputies rushed to the school as more than 100 calls flooded 911 dispatchers. The student was arrested within minutes of their arrival as he gave himself up as deputies approached.

Investigators are still trying to determine a motive for the shooting.

Minneapolis police officer Kim Potter, who is charged with first- and second-degree manslaughter in the killing of Daunte Wright, will testify at her trial, her attorney said Tuesday.

Her attorney, Paul Engh, told a potential juror that she would hear directly from Potter about the traffic stop that ended in Wright’s death in Brooklyn Center on April 11.

St. Thomas celebrated Native American Heritage Month throughout November, recognizing culture and history and cultivating a sense of belonging for a group that has often been denied inclusion in the United States.

The university put on several events throughout the month to involve students in learning more about Native American heritage.
