Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar announced that she is running for President in the 2020 election during an afternoon snowstorm on Feb. 10. The democratic candidate made her announcement at Boom Island Park in Minneapolis surrounded by a crowd of supporters. President Trump responded to Klobuchar’s announcement with a tweet mocking her stance on global warming, a phenomenon he has disputed in the past, saying “by the end of her speech she looked like a Snowman(woman)!” . Klobuchar is among four other democrats who have announced their campaign.

During a short commercial flight over western Alaska, a 16-year-old boy was arrested after he briefly took control of the small plane, authorities said. The teen was in the front passenger seat of the flight from Napakiak to Bethel when he grabbed the aircraft controls shortly after takeoff, causing the “plane to enter a steep climb and then a dive toward the ground,” Alaska State Troopers said. A woman sitting behind the teen grabbed him around the neck, pulling him away from the controls and the pilot stabilized the aircraft and returned to Napakiak. The airline will continue to allow passengers to sit in the front seat.
