Olympic figure skater Kamila Valieva, of the Russian Olympic Committee, has been cleared to compete today following a doping investigation.

The controversial ruling was made on Monday by a Court of Arbitration for Sport panel at the Olympics. Valieva has already won a gold medal in the team event last week.

The medals, however, will not be presented in Bejing, as the Olympic body is waiting for a longer-term investigation to play out.

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced Tuesday that Russia is ready to discuss military transparency and limits for mid-range missile deployment.

Putin said the U.S. and NATO rejected Russia’s demand to keep Ukraine and other ex-Soviet countries out of NATO, halt weapons deployment and roll back alliance forces out of Eastern Europe.

However, Putin said Russia is still willing to negotiate a range of previously proposed security measures.

Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry announced a partial pullback of troops from Ukraine, adding to hopes that a Russian invasion is not imminent.
