Beijing and a large part of northern China is enveloped in the worst sandstorm in a decade, forcing the cancelation of hundreds of flights.

The National Meteorological Center forecasted the storm to impact 12 provinces and regions. The center said on its website that it is the “most intense sandstorm weather our country has seen in ten years.”

Jury selection continues today for the trial of a former Minneapolis police officer charged in George Floyd’s death.

The process is halfway complete after the first week. Seven people have been picked to hear evidence against Derek Chauvin, who is charged with murder and manslaughter.

The seven jurors selected include five men and two women. Four of the jurors are white, one is multiracial, one is black, and one is Hispanic. The jurors range in age from their twenties to their fifties.

Attorneys will continue questioning jurors until they get a total of 14. The earliest opening statements for the trial would begin March 29.

Four St. Thomas students- Makaio Goods, Anna Strub, Emilia Fredrickson, and Kara Reardon— have been named semifinalists for the U.S. Fulbright Student Program. They are among roughly 2,000 U.S. students selected annually to take part in the international cultural and educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government.

Semifinalists will find out by April or May if they are chosen as an awardee for the upcoming year.
