Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell said that the federal reserve system will begin raising interest rates this month in an effort to restrain surging inflation. 

Powell said “we need to be nimble” in responding to unexpected economic change from the Russian invasion of Ukraine. 

A 31-year-old with a gun held hostages at a St. Paul Speedway gas station. SWAT officers and crisis negotiators established communication with the women. At least one shot was fired in the convenience store, but there were no injuries. The woman is booked in Ramsey county jail. 

After nine years, President Julie Sullivan announced her decision to step down from her position at St. Thomas to become President of Santa Clara University. 

Sullivan said ​​“I would wake up in the middle of the night and I would, on the one hand, be excited about going to Santa Clara because I am attracted to it as a university and excited about being with my family in particular, but then I’d wake up an hour later (and) be devastated about leaving St. Thomas.”
