As Russia’s war in Ukraine continues, the tens of thousands who journey toward safety each day in the European Union are left with no sense of when, or if, they’ll ever return home.

More than 2.8 million people have fled Ukraine, according to the U.N. refugee agency, with the vast majority seeking refuge in Poland, which has taken in more than 1.7 million refugees in the last 19 days.

Plans to take down a memorial at the suburban Minneapolis intersection where Daunte Wright was fatally shot by a police officer are on hold after his family complained.

Wright’s mother, Katie Wright, said she and her husband, Aubrey, along with the family’s attorney will meet with the Brooklyn Center city manager and the city attorney on Tuesday after the family was informed of plans to take down the memorial.

A 19-year-old suffered a gunshot wound to the leg early Friday morning while at Plums Neighborhood Grill and Bar, according to the St. Paul Police Department.

St. Paul police said they responded to a report of shots fired at the bar around 12:30 a.m. where they found the man lying on the sidewalk outside of the bar.

The victim said he was in the bar when he heard a loud pop and realized he had been shot.
