President Vladimir Putin sealed his control over Russia for six more years. He won an election following the harshest crackdown on the opposition and free speech since Soviet times. 

After the crackdown on dissent, it was clear that Putin’s nearly 25-year rule would continue with a fifth term, granting him six more years in power. Russians heeded a call to protest Putin’s repression and his war in Ukraine by showing up at polling stations at noon on Sunday. 

A Supreme Court ruling in a social media case could set standards for free speech in the digital age.  

The Supreme Court is taking up a dispute between Republican-led states and the Biden administration over how far the federal government can go to combat controversial social media posts. Those include topics including COVID-19 and election security. 

Lyft and Uber have said they will halt operations in Minneapolis because of a new city ordinance. It will increase wages for app-based drivers: the latest salvo in a longtime fight between gig economy workers and the tech giants.
