Federal authorities announced an investigation of the Seattle-area nursing home at the center of an outbreak of the new coronavirus as the U.S. death toll climbed to, including the first fatality outside Washington state.

On Wednesday officials in California’s placer county, near Sacramento, said an elderly person who tested positive after returning from a San Francisco-to-Mexico cruise had died.
The victim had underlying health problems, authorities said.

Late Wednesday, California Gov. Gavin Newsom declared a statewide emergency due to coronavirus.

Washington and Florida had already declared emergencies, and Hawaii joined them Wednesday.

Multiple news outlets, including the New York Times and CNN, are reporting that Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren is suspending her presidential campaign.

Warren planned to announce her decision to staff Thursday morning, according to CNN.

This announcement follows a disappointing super Tuesday showing.

University of St. Thomas students Sam Herriges and Olivia Zipperer dominated the Minnesota AD Fed show 2020 student competition, which was held on Friday, Feb. 28th at Orchestra Hall.

Herriges and Zipperer received gold awards for Student Consumer Campaign and Student Copywriting for their “Timeless Values” campaign for the Catholic church.
