Trade talks ended between the U.S. and China with no agreement reached. Late last week, President Trump more than doubled tariffs on $200 billion of Chinese imports.

White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow emphasized that the U.S. would be harmed by tariffs, contradicting Trump’s statements that the tariffs would only harm China.

The Louisiana legislature is close to passing a law that will ban abortions after a fetal heartbeat is detected.

A heartbeat is detected about six weeks into a pregnancy, before many women know they are pregnant. This bill follows similar ones enacted in Mississippi and Georgia.

The Minnesota legislature is winding down its annual session this week. The two parties have yet to agree on a state budget as talks broke off late last night between the governor and legislative leaders.
