Taiwan’s legislature voted Friday to legalize same-sex marriage, a first in Asia and a boost for LGBT rights activists who had championed the cause for two decades.

Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen, a supporter of the law, tweeted: “On May 17th, 2019 in Taiwan, Love Won. We took a big step toward true equality, and made Taiwan a better country.”

Members of St. Thomas’ Students for Global Health club are working on creating and printing cookbooks for homeless people and children at risk.The club is distributing the cookbooks to People Serving People, a Twin Cities-based organization and homeless shelter.

According to the organization’s mission statement, they “help homeless and at-risk children and their families manage crisis situations and build a strong foundation for their long-term success.” Click here to read the full story.

An inmate at the Kanabec County Jail is charged with running a prostitution ring from his cell. Thirty-eight-year-old Daniel Ellington is charged in Washington County District Court with two counts of sex trafficking and two counts of promotion of prostitution.

At least 177 men were sexually abused by an Ohio State team doctor who died years ago, the university said Friday as it released findings from a law firm that investigated the accusations, concluding that school leaders knew at the time.
