U.S. troops prepared to pull out of Syria today as the Syrian Army moved into a series of towns and villages in the northern part of the country. Kurdish forces that were previously allied with the U.S. said they had made a deal with President Bashar Assad’s government to fend off Turkey’s invasion. Hours later, the Syrian army’s deployment near the Turkish border occurred. The announcement of a deal between Syria’s Kurds and its government came after President Trump ordered all U.S. troops to withdraw from the northern border area.

A Blaine Walmart’s parking lot was blocked off by police after a shooting early today. The victim suffered minor injuries and is expected to be OK. No arrests have been made.

A proposed passenger rail service between Minneapolis and Duluth known as the Northern Lights Express is back on the table. Tf constructed, NLX will operate on approximately 152 miles of the existing rail corridor.

St. Thomas senior Hannah Studee started off the school year by launching a makeup bar happy hour for her makeup business, Beauty by Studee. On saturdays, Studee hosts a makeup bar where she does makeup for students and offers complimentary snacks and drinks for those of age.
