A male St. Thomas student was struck by a silver minivan while crossing the street at the corner of Summit and Cretin avenues around 10:45 a.m. Monday.
St. Paul police officers and an ambulance were called to the scene. A police officer said the student was “conscious and speaking.” He was taken by ambulance to United hospital in St. Paul, but Jim Winterer, director of Media Relations, said the student walked into the ambulance on his own and the injuries did not appear to be serious.
Winterer said witnesses reported the minivan had a green light, but the student stepped into the crosswalk and the vehicle “dinged his knee.”

I really hope he will be ok, and not badly hurt. I do think it was just a matter of time, given the number of people who cross Cretin there, and the level of traffic on that street, especially at rush hour.
