Public Safety briefs

On July, 31, 2013 at 12:30 p.m., Public Safety documented a theft in O’Shaughnessy-Frey Library Center. A St. Thomas student’s wallet, reported stolen while unattended in the library, was later recovered in McNeely Hall with several pieces of property missing.

On Aug. 1, 2013 at 7 a.m., Public Safety documented a burglary on the 1800 block of Sargent Avenue. The St. Paul Police Department reported that the garage of a residence on the block was burglarized. PUBLIC_SAFETY_THUMB

On Aug. 1, 2013 at 8:34 a.m., Public Safety documented a theft in Grace Residence Hall. A St. Thomas student was found to have taken food and was present in Grace in violation of established visitation hours.

On Aug. 2, 2013 at 6:34 a.m., Public Safety reported a vehicle accident outside of John Roach Center. A St. Thomas Closed vehicle backed into a small retaining wall on the northeast side of JRC, causing minor damage to the rear driver’s side of the vehicle.

On Aug. 5, 2013 at 8 a.m. Public Safety documented a theft in St. John Vianney. A St. Thomas guest reported unsecured camera accessories were stolen from the room she was staying in.

Between Aug. 2 and Aug. 5, 2013, Public Safety documented a theft on the 2100 block of Dayton Avenue. A St. Thomas student reported her bicycle was stolen from the garage of her off campus residence.

On Aug. 6, 2013 at 11:52 a.m., Public Safety documented the removal of 15 abandoned bicycles from found property inventory.

On Aug. 6, 2013 at 3 p.m., Public Safety documented suspicious activity in Lot G. A parent of a St. Thomas guest attending a sports camp on campus reported they were approached by an unidentified individual who asked suspicious questions and then left campus on foot.

Between Aug. 5 and Aug. 7, 2013, Public Safety documented suspicious activity in St. John Vianney. A St. Thomas guest reported her wallet was missing from the room that she was staying in.

On Aug. 9, 2013 at 2 p.m., Public Safety documented suspicious activity at 32 South Finn Street. A university employee reported a St. Thomas parent observed two unidentified individuals who appeared to be following an orientation tour group around campus.

On Aug. 9, 2013 at 2:13 p.m., Public Safety reported a suspicious incident on the 2100 block of Summit Avenue. A suspicious object, found on the sidewalk in front of 2145 Summit Avenue, was later disposed of.

On Aug. 9, 2013 at 12:45 p.m., Public Safety documented suspicious activity in Lot A. A St. Thomas student’s personal documents were found in a bag, recovered as found property from the lot, that the student reported did not belong to him.

On Aug. 10, 2013 at 1:41 p.m., Public Safety and the St. Paul Police Department responded to a vehicle accident at Cretin and Grand Avenues. Two non-St. Thomas vehicles collided in the intersection, resulting in both vehicles being rendered inoperable, but no injuries.

On Aug. 11, 2013 at 5:54 p.m., Public Safety reported a theft in Lot P. A non-university affiliated individual who took scrap metal from a St. Thomas dumpster without authorization was trespassed from campus.

On Aug. 12 at 5:55 p.m., Public Safety documented a theft in O’Shaughnessy-Frey Library Center. A St. Thomas alumnus reported his unattended headphones and power chord were stolen from the third floor of the library.

On Aug. 16 at 6:08 a.m., Public Safety reported suspicious activity in Murray-Herrick Campus Center. An unidentified individual found sleeping in the first floor lounge area of MHC was escorted from the building and trespassed from campus.

On Aug. 16, 2013 at 9 p.m., Public Safety reported suspicious activity in Owens Science Hall. A shotgun round was found in the OWS loading dock area and was secured as found property inventory.

Between Aug. 16 and Aug. 18, 2013, Public Safety reported suspicious activity in Minneapolis Opus Hall. Fecal matter was found smeared on the floor and toilet in a stall in the second floor men’s restroom.

On Aug. 18, 2013 at 9:16 p.m., Public Safety documented an aggravated robbery near Marshall Avenue and Howell Street. The St. Paul Police Department reported two unidentified victims were assaulted and robbed by three unknown suspects.

On Aug. 22, 2013 at 10:34 p.m., Public Safety assisted the St. Thomas community by donating abandoned property to Goodwill in St. Paul.

On Aug. 24, 2013 at 6:31 p.m., Public Safety and St. Paul Fire Department Medics responded to a medical at O’Shaughnessy Stadium. A visiting football player who suffered an arm injury was transported by Medics to an area hospital for further medical attention.

On Aug. 25, 2013 at 11:35 a.m., Public Safety responded to a medical in Grace Residence Hall. A St. Thomas student reported she suffered a minor shock from a damaged plug, but did not require further medical attention.

On Aug. 25, 2013 at 1:13 p.m., Public Safety responded to suspicious activity near Marshall Avenue and Cretin Avenue. An unidentified individual, reported behaving strangely near the intersection, could not be located upon officers’ check of the area.

On Aug. 25, 2013 at 5:59 p.m., Public Safety and St. Paul Fire Department Medics responded to a medical in Anderson Athletic & Recreation Complex. A St. Thomas student who suffered heat related illness during football practice was transported by Medics to an area hospital.

On Aug. 26, 2013 at noon, Public Safety documented a theft in O’Shaughnessy Science Hall. A St. Thomas employee reported her unattended phone was taken from the third floor restroom.

On Aug. 27, 2013 at 12:18 a.m., Public Safety documented damage to property in O’Shaughnessy Science Hall. Several ceiling tiles in the fourth floor hallway were damaged as a result of a water leak.

On Aug. 28, 2013 at 10:34 a.m., Public Safety documented a policy violation in Murray-Herrick Campus Center. A Campus Mail Services staff member reported a St. Thomas student was attempting to use university resources to conduct a private business venture.

On Aug. 28, 2013 at 4:05 p.m., Public Safety responded to a medical at the Public Safety office in Morrison Hall. A St. Thomas student, who received a minor shock from a faulty plug, was assisted by an officer and sought additional medical attention at Student Health Services.

On Aug. 28, 2013 at 8:54 a.m., Public Safety documented a theft of a motor vehicle in Lot 3. A former St. Thomas employee reported his parked motorcycle was stolen from the lot.
