Public Safety briefs – May 8, 2015

On April 19 at 7:30 p.m. Public Safety assisted four St. Thomas students in Dowling Residence Hall. The students, who were stuck in the lower level computer lab due to a malfunction with the door, were later released after a previously unused door was unsecured.

On April 23 at 7:53 p.m. Public Safety documented a motor vehicle theft on the 1900 block of Marshall Avenue. The St. Paul Police Department reported a St. Thomas student’s vehicle was stolen.

On April 24 at 4:47 p.m. Public Safety documented a medical in the Morrison Hall Public Safety Office. A St. Thomas employee reported a student who expressed a desire to harm himself was transported to an area hospital for further assistance.

On April 24 at 3:17 a.m. Public Safety documented damage to property in Anderson Student Center. A St. Thomas employee reported a pane of glass along the main staircase shattered.

On April 26 at 3:31 a.m. Public Safety responded to suspicious activity in LOT C. A St. Thomas student became disorderly with officers who approached an unidentified individual who appeared to be distressed and in need of assistance.

On April 26 at 4:08 p.m. Public Safety responded to suspicious activity at O’Shaughnessy-Frey Library Center. An individual not affiliated with St. Thomas, who appeared disoriented and possibly lost, was approached by officers and left the area on his own.

On April 29 at 6:48 p.m. Public Safety and Residence Life performed a welfare check in Ireland Residence Hall. A St. Thomas student, reported as possibly being in crisis, was located in his residence and was safe.

On April 30 at 7:05 p.m. Public Safety donated 15 abandoned bicycles to a local charity in St. Paul.

On May 1 at 1:14 p.m. Public Safety documented dating violence in the Morrison Hall Public Safety Office. A St. Thomas student reported a second student she was formerly in a relationship with assaulted her at an off-campus location in St. Paul.

On May 1 at 5:11 p.m. Public Safety documented harassment in Aquinas Hall. A St. Thomas employee reported she received multiple unwanted calls from an unidentified individual claiming that she was being charged with unspecified crimes that appeared to be fraudulent in nature.

On May 2 at 12:25 a.m. Public Safety and St. Paul Police Department responded to noise/party complaint on the 1900 block of Selby Avenue. A St. Thomas student was cited by SPPD for a social host violation.

On May 2 at 2:16 a.m. Public Safety and St. Paul Police Department responded to a report of suspicious activity on the 2000 block of Dayton Avenue. A St. Thomas student reported an unidentified individual reached through her bedroom window with a camera.

On May 3 at 2:12 a.m. Public Safety documented suspicious activity in Anderson Athletic and Recreation Complex. Two St. Thomas alumni, three students and a non-affiliated individual had accessed the building and were using facilities after hours in violation of university policy.

On May 4 at 1:48 p.m. Public Safety documented a complaint in Ireland Residence Hall. A St. Thomas employee reported an ongoing dispute he was having with a second employee.

On May 5 at 3:32 p.m. Public Safety documented suspicious activity on the 2100 block of Dayton Avenue. A St. Thomas neighbor reported she observed a suspicious transaction occur outside of her residence.
