Public Safety briefs

On Feb. 6, 2013 at 11:44 p.m., Public Safety reported property damage in Brady Residence Hall. A toilet in the fifth floor restroom would not stop running, and water was found leaking in the second and third floor restrooms, possibly as a result of a damaged pipe.

On Feb. 7, 2013 at 9:02 a.m., Public Safety documented harassment in Morrison Hall. A St. Thomas student reported she received unwanted contact from family members regarding personal financial matters.  PublicSafety_Briefs_PHOTO

On Feb. 7, 2013 at 4:10 p.m., Public Safety assisted a St. Thomas student in Morrison Hall. The student provided Public Safety a copy of a Harassment Restraining Order she filed against a non-university affiliated suspect she received unwanted contact from.

On Feb. 7, 2013 at 7:20 p.m., Public Safety documented a theft in Anderson Athletic and Recreation Complex. A St. Thomas student reported an unsecured iPod was stolen from the AARC weight room.

On Feb. 7, 2013 at 2:15 p.m., Public Safety and St. Paul Police Department responded to suspicious activity on the Flynn Hall turn-around. A St. Thomas student in a parked vehicle, that multiple unidentified individuals approached, was found in possession of marijuana and related paraphernalia.

On Feb. 8, 2013, at 2:53 p.m., Public Safety and Residence Life responded to a liquor law violation in Cretin Hall. An underage intoxicated St. Thomas student was sent off campus with a sober caregiver.

On Feb. 8, 2013 at 4:23 p.m., Public Safety assisted a St. Thomas parent in Morrison Hall. The parent’s student, who the parent initially reported had not made it home after being out for the evening, later contacted the parent by phone and was safe at a friend’s house.

On Feb. 8, 2013 at 6:03 a.m., Public Safety and St. Paul Fire Department medics responded to a medical in Dowling Residence Hall. An underage St. Thomas student, who consumed alcohol and was behaving in erratic manner, was transported by medics to an area hospital for further medical attention.

On Feb. 8, 2013 at 6:19 p.m., Public Safety assisted a St. Thomas employee with a welfare check in Minneapolis School of Law. A second employee, whose vehicle was left in Lot 3 past the end of their shift, was later reached by phone and was OK.

On Feb. 8, 2013 at 12:22 p.m., Public Safety responded to a disturbance in Murray-Herrick Campus Center. Two St. Thomas students arguing over a personal matter were identified by officers and sent on their way.

On Feb. 8, 2013 at 12:43 p.m., Public Safety assisted a St. Thomas parent with a welfare check in the Child Development Center. The parent’s student, who the parent was trying to reach, was determined to be in class.

On Feb. 8, 2013 at 2:57 p.m., Public Safety and Minneapolis Police Department responded to suspicious activity at 10th Street and Harmon Place. An unidentified individual, reported to intentionally walking into oncoming traffic, could not be located officers’ check of the area.

On Feb. 8, 2013 at 6:56 p.m., Public Safety documented suspicious activity at Marshall Avenue and Cleveland Avenue. A St. Thomas student reported an unidentified individual was soliciting people for money at the intersection.

On Feb. 8, 2013 at 10:15 p.m., Public Safety and Residence Life responded to an odor of marijuana in 2085 Grand Ave. A St. Thomas student was found to have used and was in possession of marijuana and related paraphernalia.

On Feb. 9, 2013 at 12:50 a.m., Public Safety and Residence Life responded to an odor of marijuana in Brady Residence Hall. A St. Thomas student, who fled from officers investigating the odor in the east stairwell, was later identified but did not possess any marijuana or related items.

On Feb, 9, 2013 at 4:20 p.m., Public Safety documented a theft outside of Dowling Residence Hall. A non-St. Thomas affiliated person reported an unidentified suspect forcibly removed a bike from the east Dowling bike rack then fled the area.

On Feb. 9, 2013 at 4:56 p.m., Public Safety responded to a medical in Anderson Athletic and Recreation Complex. A St. Thomas student who injured his ankle playing basketball was assisted by officers and declined further medical attention.

On Feb. 10, 2013 at 12:21 a.m., Public Safety assisted Residence Life with a liquor law violation in Brady Residence Hall. Three underage St. Thomas students were found to have consumed alcohol.

On Feb. 10, 2013 at 11:45 p.m., Public Safety documented suspicious activity in the 11th and Harmon Place Ramp. A St. Thomas student reported his parked vehicle was accessed without authorization and rummaged through.

On Feb. 10, 2013 at 7:17 p.m., Public Safety responded to a medical at McCarthy Gym. A St. Thomas student who injured his ankle playing basketball was assisted by officers and declined further medical attention.

On Feb. 10, 2013 at 8:04 p.m., Public Safety responded to a medical in Anderson Athletic and Recreation Complex. A St. Thomas student who injured her ankle while playing basketball was assisted by officers and declined further medical attention.

On Feb. 10, 2013 at 7:47 p.m., Public Safety documented suspicious activity in Morrison Hall. A St. Thomas student reported she received a threatening text and voice-mail message from an unidentified individual.

On Feb. 10, 2013 at 7:50 p.m., Public Safety documented a theft in 11th and Harmon Place Ramp. A university employee reported cash was taken from his unsecured vehicle.

On Feb. 12, 2013 at 1:26 p.m., Public Safety reported suspicious activity in Morrison Hall. The Public Safety emergency line received a forwarded automated call from an out of state phone number.

On Feb. 12, 2013 at 2:44 p.m., Public Safety documented suspicious activity in Murray-Herrick Campus Center. A St. Thomas employee reported U.S. Postal Inspectors reported several fraudulent USPS money orders were sent with the return address of St. Thomas’ Minneapolis campus.
