Public Safety briefs

On March 4, 2013, Public Safety documented motor vehicle theft near Grand Avenue and Grotto Street. A St. Thomas student was arrested by the St. Paul Police Department for motor vehicle theft and fleeing from police.

On March 8, 2013 at 10:24 p.m., Public Safety and the St. Paul Police Department responded to an intoxicated person outside of Ireland Residence Hall. An intoxicated of age St. Thomas student, in possession of an illegal switch blade, was transported to Detox by SPPD. PublicSafety_Briefs_PHOTO

On March 9, 2013 at 12:30 p.m., Public Safety responded to a medical in Morrison Residence Hall. A St. Thomas student who fell and cut her knee while running off campus was assisted by an officer and declined further medical attention.

Between March 8- 9, 2013 Public Safety documented a theft on the 2100 block of Selby Avenue. A St. Thomas student reported a laptop and tablet were stolen from his unsecured room during a party at his off-campus residence.

On March 9, 2013 between 2:30 – 5:30 p.m., Public Safety documented a theft from vehicle in the Monument Park parking lot. A former St. Thomas student reported her front driver’s side window was smashed and her purse, containing several pieces of personal property, was stolen.

On March 9, 2013 at 5:28 p.m., Public Safety responded to lewd conduct outside of Schulze Hall. An unidentified suspect, who exposed himself and made threatening comments to a contract employee, left campus and was reported to the Minneapolis Police Department.

On March 9, 2013 at 7 p.m., Public Safety reported a policy violation in Anderson Athletic and Recreation Complex. A St. Thomas student who was being disruptive was removed from a NCAA basketball game.

On March 9, 2013 between 7:30 p.m. and 11:15 p.m., Public Safety responded to three separate liquor law violations in Anderson Athletic and Recreation Complex.

On March 10, 2013 at 3:31 a.m., Public Safety and the St. Paul Police Department responded to disorderly conduct in Dowling Residence Hall. An underage intoxicated non-university affiliated individual, who fled from officers, was arrested by officers and taken to detox by SPPD.

On March 10, 2013 at 11:08 a.m., Public Safety reported theft of services at the Anderson Parking Facility. A St. Thomas student utilized his APF card access rights to allow other vehicles to leave the ramp without paying.

On March 10, 2013 at 12:14 p.m., Public Safety documented a medical in Morrison Hall. A former St. Thomas student contacted Public Safety to report he was in crisis and checked himself into an area hospital for medical attention.

On March 10, 2013 at 6:14 p.m., Public Safety responded to a medical at Anderson Athletic and Recreation Complex. A St. Thomas student who injured his ankle playing basketball was assisted by officers and declined further medical attention.

On March 11, 2013 at 2:22 a.m., Public Safety documented suspicious activity in Summit Classroom Building. A Physical Plant staff member reported a suspicious message was written on a chalkboard in a third floor classroom.

On March 11, 2013 at 11:04 a.m., Public Safety assisted a St. Thomas student in John Roach Center. A St. Thomas faculty member reported that the student was in crisis and arranged resources and meetings for the student.

On March 11, 2013 at 11:33 p.m., Public Safety and Residence Life responded to a liquor law violation in Brady Residence Hall. Four underage St. Thomas students and two underage guests were found to have consumed alcohol.

On March 12, 2013 at 11:40 a.m., Public Safety assisted a St. Thomas student in Morrison Residence Hall. The student’s wallet, initially reported as stolen, was later found intact in the student’s vehicle.

On March 13, 2013 at 2:51 a.m., Public Safety assisted a former St. Thomas student in Morrison Residence Hall. The former student, inquiring about parking and accommodations, was advised of university policies.

On March 13, 2013 at 3:16 p.m., Public Safety documented property damage in Terrence Murphy Hall. A St. Thomas employee reported black marker graffiti in a toilet stall in the second floor men’s restroom.

On March 14, 2013 at 5:18 a.m., Public Safety documented a medical in Lot P. A St. Thomas employee reported he slipped on ice and fell in the lot, injuring his leg and knee, but did not require medical attention.

On March 14, 2013 at 7:56 a.m., Public Safety responded to a medical near Lot G. A St. Thomas student who slipped on ice and injured her ankle was taken by a parent to an area hospital for further medical attention.

On March 14, 2013 at 8:06 a.m., Public Safety responded to a medical outside of Anderson Student Center. A St. Thomas employee who slipped and fell on ice while working outside of ASC was transported by St. Paul Fire Department Medics to an area hospital for further medical attention.

On March 14, 2013 at 2:37 p.m., Public Safety assisted Academic Counseling in Morrison Residence Hall. A staff member reported ongoing concerns regarding negative interactions with the parent of a St. Thomas student.

On March 14, 2013 at 7:26 p.m., Public Safety assisted a St. Thomas employee in O’Shaughnessy Science Hall. The employee’s coat, initially reported as stolen, was later found to have been mistakenly taken by a second employee and was returned.
