Public Safety Briefs: August 30 – September 5

On August 30 at 2:29 a.m. Public Safety responded to a medical in Lot D. An underage intoxicated St. Thomas student found vomiting near the entrance to Lot B was found in possession of a fictitious driver’s license.

On August 30 at 3:16 a.m. Public Safety responded to a welfare check on campus. An intoxicated person not affiliated with St. Thomas was found in distress near the arches.

On August 30 at 10:45 a.m. Public Safety responded to suspicious activity in Lot B. Alcoholic beverages that fell out of a cart used by an underage St. Thomas student during move in were determined to have been owned by a parent.

On August 30 at 10:59 a.m. Public Safety and St. Paul Fire Department medics responded to a medical in Health Services. An English Language Services student with moderate chest pain was transported to an area hospital for advanced medical care.

On August 30 at 7:10 p.m. Public Safety responded to a disturbance at O’Shaughnessy Stadium. A university neighbor reported noise coming from the Great Tommie Get-Together was excessively loud, yet sound readings from the event were within permitted levels.

On August 30 at 9:53 p.m. Public Safety responded to a welfare check in Dowling Residence Hall. A St. Thomas student was reportedly having an anxiety attack.

On August 31 at 12:00 a.m. Public Safety assisted Residence Life with a disturbance in Brady Residence Hall. An underage intoxicated St. Thomas student unlawfully possessed and consumed alcoholic beverages, and two underage St. Thomas students unlawfully consumed alcoholic beverages.

On August 31 at 12:54 a.m Public Safety documented a medical in Ireland Residence Hall. A St. Thomas student injured a foot while entering the building.

On August 31 at 11:47 a.m. Public Safety documented motor vehicle tampering in Lot U. An unlocked vehicle owned by a St. Thomas student was entered by an unknown person and personal property from the center console and glove compartment were found on a passenger seat.

On August 31 at 5:51 p.m. Public Safety documented property damage in the Anderson Student Center parking garage. A university vendor caused damage to the ceiling in the entrance with an oversized vehicle.

On August 31 at 8:27 p.m. Public Safety documented a collision in Lot A. An unidentified person backed into a vehicle owned by a visiting seminary and left the area without stopping and providing information as required by law.

On August 31 at 11:21 p.m. Public Safety assisted Residence Life with a liquor law violation in Brady Residence Hall. Four underage St. Thomas students unlawfully consumed alcoholic beverages.

On September 1 at 5:00 p.m. Public Safety, Residence Life, and Facilities Management responded to property damage in Flynn Residence Hall. A St. Thomas student drilled a hole in a wall directly into a sprinkler pipe causing extensive flooding and damage to the building.

On September 1 at 7:58 p.m. Public Safety investigated threats in Ireland Residence Hall. Members of a closed social media group reported receiving a group chat with pictures of a weapon and ammunition posted by a St. Thomas student who reported damage to University and personal property.

On September 1 at 11:43 p.m. Public Safety, Facilities Management, and the Minneapolis Fire Department responded to a fire system activation in Terrence Murphy Hall. A small pinhole in a sprinkler pipe caused a full building fire alarm and water damage in a room in the lower level.

On September 2 at 11:33 a.m. Public Safety and the St. Paul Police Department responded to a disturbance on the 2100 block of Marshall Avenue. Two St. Thomas students were identified as residents of a house having a loud party in the area.

On September 2 at 12:52 a.m. Public Safety assisted Residence Life with a medical in Brady Residence Hall. An underage intoxicated St. Thomas student unlawfully consumed alcoholic beverages.

On September 2 at 12:54 a.m. Public Safety and St. Paul Fire Department medics assisted Residence Life with a medical in Dowling Residence Hall. An underage intoxicated St. Thomas student found vomiting in a trash bin in the building was transported to an area hospital for advanced medical care.

On September 3 at 8:44 a.m. Public Safety and Facilities Management responded to property damage in Minneapolis School of Law. A faulty valve in the ceiling caused a water leak and damage to ceiling tiles in a room in the building.

On September 3 at 12:26 p.m. Public Safety and the St. Paul Police Department documented a disturbance on the 1900 block of Iglehart Avenue. A loud house party was observed in the area.

On September 3 at 12:30 p.m. Public Safety documented an assault near 10th Street North and Hennepin Avenue. The Minneapolis Police Department reported a suspect not affiliated with St. Thomas was arrested for injuring an unidentified person in an unknown domestic relationship.

On September 3 at 12:10 a.m. Public Safety and the St. Paul Police Department responded to a disturbance on the 1900 block of Laurel Avenue. A university neighbor reported a loud party at a house occupied by four St. Thomas students.

On September 4 at 1:25 a.m. Public Safety and the St. Paul Police Department responded to a disturbance on the 100 block of Cretin Avenue North. A loud party was observed at a house in the area.

On September 4 at 9:04 a.m. Public Safety and Facilities Management responded to property damage at O’Shaughnessy Stadium. A St. Thomas student operating a motor vehicle in the Lot D drive aisle damaged a gate in the area and failed to stop and notify the University.

On September 4 at 1:30 p.m. Public Safety documented a theft in Brady Educational Center. An unattended cell phone owned by a St. Thomas studentleft in a restroom in the building was stolen.

On September 4 at 1:38 p.m. Public Safety and St. Paul Fire Department medics responded to a medical in Anderson Athletic & Recreation Complex. A St. Thomas student fainted and sustained a minor head injury after falling.

On September 4 at 3:30 p.m. Public Safety responded to a theft in Dowling Residence Hall. A St. Thomas employee reported lights stolen from the north elevator.

On September 4 at 5:30 p.m. Public Safety documented a disturbance in John Roach Center for the Liberal Arts. An anonymous person reported a classroom disruption.

On September 4 at 5:45 p.m. Public Safety and St. Paul Fire Department medics responded to a medical that occurred on Palmer Athletic Field . A St. Thomas student suffered an athletic injury and was transported to an area hospital for advanced medical care .

On September 4 at 11:07 p.m. Public Safety documented property damage on Sabo Plaza. A plastic folding table in the area was intentionally destroyed by an unidentified group of people.

On September 5 at 12:03 a.m. Public Safety and St. Paul Fire Department medics responded to a medical in Dowling Residence Hall. A St. Thomas student reported sharp abdominal pain.

On September 5 at 9:30 a.m. Public Safety responded to a medical in Anderson Student Center. A St. Thomas student fainted in The View.

On September 5 at 11:04 a.m. Public Safety assisted the Department of Natural Resources in the Morrison Hall Public Safety office . A pre-employment background investigation was conducted on a former St. Thomas employee.

On September 5 at 6:27 p.m. Public Safety, Residence Life, and the St. Paul Police and Fire Departments responded to a welfare check in Ireland Residence Hall. A St. Thomas student reported severe anxiety and suicidal ideation.

On September 5 at 10:33 p.m. Public Safety and the St. Paul Police Department responded to a disturbance on campus. A person not affiliated with St. Thomas was arrested for driving while intoxicated and issued a trespass from university property. A passenger not affiliated with St. Thomas trespassed on university property and was released from the scene.
