Public Safety briefs – March 4, 2016

On Feb. 28 at 2:48 a.m. Public Safety assisted Residence Life with an odor of marijuana in Dowling Residence Hall. One student possessed marijuana and paraphernalia, a second student possessed paraphernalia and a third underage student possessed alcohol.

On Feb. 28 at 3:45 a.m. Public Safety assisted Residence Life with a welfare check in Dowling Residence Hall. A St. Thomas student, reported as having been in crisis, was located in Dowling and was safe.

On Feb. 28 at 10:22 p.m. Public Safety and Residence Life responded to an odor of marijuana in Grace Residence Hall. The odor was found to have originated from the residence of a St. Thomas
student, but no marijuana or paraphernalia was found.

On Feb. 29 at 11:36 a.m. Public Safety documented damage to property at the MacPhail building. An exterior first-floor pane of glass fell out due to unknown means.

On Feb. 29 at 12:38 p.m. Public Safety responded to a disturbance in Minneapolis Opus Hall. An individual not affiliated with St. Thomas, who was being disruptive outside of the Keffer Library and who refused to identify himself, was escorted off campus and verbally trespassed.

On Feb. 29 at 2:40 p.m. Public Safety assisted a parent with a welfare check at the Anderson Student Center. The parent’s student was located outside of ASC and was safe.

On Feb. 29 at 4:36 p.m. Public Safety and St. Paul Fire Department medics responded to a medical in Owens Science Hall. A St. Thomas student who suffered a chemical burn to her leg was assisted by medics and taken by a friend to an area hospital.

On March 1 at 3:12 p.m. Public Safety and Hennepin County Medical Center medics responded to a medical at the Minneapolis School of Law. A St. Thomas student who was not feeling well was assisted by medics and declined further medical attention.

On March 2 at 2:08 a.m. Public Safety and St. Paul Fire Department medics responded to a medical in Dowling Residence Hall. A St. Thomas student who fell and injured her arm was transported by medics to an area hospital for further medical attention.

On March 2 at 12:51 p.m. Public Safety reported a policy violation in Lot G. A St. Thomas student was found to be using an altered parking permit to park without authorization.

On March 2 at 2:18 p.m. Public Safety documented suspicious activity in the Anderson Parking Facility. A St. Thomas student reported she believed someone had tampered with and attempted to access her parked vehicle.

On March 2 at 2:53 p.m. Public Safety documented fraud in the Morrison Hall Public Safety Office. A St. Thomas student reported an unidentified suspect attempted to steal a large amount of cash from him as part of an online scam.

On March 2 at 7:42 p.m. Public Safety and the St. Paul Fire Department responded to a full-building alarm in Murray Herrick Campus Center. The alarm was caused by an equipment malfunction in an elevator room, the extent of which was not known, and no injuries were reported.

On March 3 at 8:01 a.m. Public Safety and the St. Paul Police Department responded to a vehicle accident at Cretin and Selby avenues. A St. Thomas student collided with a non-affiliated person, resulting in significant damage to both vehicles, but no injuries.

On March 3 at 10:18 p.m. Public Safety assisted Residence Life with a noise violation in Grace Residence Hall. Five underage St. Thomas students were found to have consumed alcohol.

On March 3 at 11:58 p.m.Public Safety assisted Residence Life with a power outage in Flynn Residence Hall. A blown outlet in a student’s residence caused a circuit breaker to trip, shutting off power in part of the residence.
