St. Thomas women’s basketball was hopeful about heading to playoffs this week, but after a 65-49 loss to Bethel, the team was eliminated from the conference title race.

“They’ve (Bethel) got a good team and they played a great game,” coach Ruth Sinn said. “We’re going to have to learn from this opportunity and hopefully we can grow and get prepared for the next step.”

Men’s basketball extended its win streak to nine with a 65-60 win over Bethel, bringing their conference record to 16-1.

On Tuesday, men’s hockey lost in overtime to St. Scholastica 2-1. The Tommies play Hamline at home tonight at 7:30 p.m. Women’s hockey will be playing away at Hamline at 7:00 p.m.

It was announced that the TommieJohnie game will be held in U.S. Bank stadium this fall. This will be the 90th and final meeting between the two schools.

“I think it’s really exciting and it’s something for our school to be proud of,” St. Thomas first-year Amanda Patel said.

Men’s and women’s basketball, hockey, swim and dive and tennis compete this weekend.
