The St. Thomas’s women’s hockey team earned its first victory in its first game of the season. The Tommies beat the College of St. Benedict 5-2 on Sunday.

Their next game is scheduled for Wednesday against Hamline University.

The Minnesota Timberwolves snapped their four game losing streak after beating the Toronto Raptors 116-112 on Sunday.

The Timberwolves were led by Malik Beasley who scored 20 points and Karl Anthony-Towns who scored 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. The Timberwolves are now seven and twenty and sit in last in the Western Conference.

Major League Baseball announced that the St. Paul Saints will join Minor League Baseball in the AAA East League in the Midwest Division. The Saints will now serve as the Minnesota Twins AAA affiliate.

Kamaru Usman defeated Gilbert Burns to retain his Welterweight title on Saturday in UFC 258. Usman won by technical knockout 34 seconds into the third round.

The Australian Open has extended into the fourth round. Both mens and womens number one seeds, Novak Djokivic and Ashleigh Barty, remain in the singles tournament. 23-time Grand Slam Champion Serena Williams also advanced.
