Sports in :60 – Jan. 31, 2022

St. Thomas sports went winless on the road during the weekend. Women’s basketball lost to Western Illinois 67-82. Men’s basketball also lost to Western Illinois 51-81. Women’s Hockey lost to Bemidji State 4-0, and Women’s Tennis lost the season opener 7-0 against the University of Minnesota.

>The Super Bowl will have two new teams this year. The Cincinnati Bengals came back in the second half to beat the Kansas City Chiefs 27-24 in overtime. The Los Angeles Rams overcame a double-digit difference to beat the San Francisco 49ers 20-17. Los Angeles will host Cincinnati on Feb. 13.

The Minnesota Wild beat the New York Islanders 4-3 on Sunday night for their fifth straight win. Kirill Kaprizov, Joel Eriksson Ek and Mat Boldy each ahd a goal and an assist.

Karl-Anthony Towns had 31 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists. The Timberwolves routed the Utah Jazz 126-106 on Sunday night.
