The Minnesota Vikings edged out the Carolina Panthers 28-27 Sunday after allowing two defensive touchdowns within 10 seconds, early in the third quarter.

Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins threw for 307 yards and three touchdowns, and connected with receiver Chad Beebe for the winning touchdown with 46 seconds remaining.

Carolina’s kicker Joey Slye missed a 54-yard field goal as time expired to bring the Vikings back into playoff contention.

The Gophers called off the annual battle with the Badgers for Paul Bunyan’s Axe on Tuesday after numerous positive COVID-19 cases emerged within the Gopher program.

Saturday’s cancellation will likely end the Badgers chances of playing in the Big Ten Championship game because of two previous cancellations this season.

This is the first time in 114 years that the rivalry hasn’t been played.

Vanderbilt’s Sarah Fuller became the first woman to compete in a Power 5 conference football game Saturday when she kicked off to begin the second half at Missouri.

Fuller is a goalkeeper for the women’s soccer team but was called into action after all other kicking specialists were sidelined with COVID-19.
