The St. Thomas Athletics Department hosted a kick-off event titled “Hoops Hysteria” for the men’s and women’s basketball teams Thursday at Schoenecker Arena. The event helped the teams tip-off the upcoming basketball seasons in style with shooting competitions, skills competitions and intra-squad scrimmages by both teams.

The event was open to the public and St. Thomas students were encouraged to attend via emails from the St. Thomas Athletics Department. The email also offered 50 randomly-selected students a chance to win five hundred dollars in a shooting competition.

The Minnesota Wild beat the Ottawa Senators 5-4 Tuesday night. Trailing 3-1, Ottawa scored three times in less than six minutes of the second period to take a short-lived lead. Kirill Kaprizov scored the winning goal for the Wild in overtime, leading to a 5-4 victory.

The St. Thomas men’s football team will be traveling to North Carolina to face off against the Davidson Wildcats on Saturday, November 6th at noon.
