St Thomas’ football team is coming off of a 38-7 win at Stetson University in Deland, Florida on Saturday. The Tommies started strong, scoring 21 points in the first quarter alone. But it was Adebayo who stole the show Saturday. He more than doubled his season rushing yardage, accounting for 182 of the Tommies’ 278 rushing yards. That included a 78-yard open-field scoring run on the first play from scrimmage.

Adebayo ran for four touchdowns and the St. Thomas defense forced four turnovers, propelling the Tommies to a 38-7 road win.

Tommie women’s soccer also came up with a win, defeating Western Illinois 1-0 at home.

After scoring her first collegiate goal in the 62nd minute, first-year forward Marli Bertagnoli sent the Tommies to a 1-0 win over Western Illinois University Sunday at South Field.

The matchup marked the Tommies’ first conference win of the season. The victory over the Leathernecks also snapped a seven game losing streak that the Tommies accumulated over the last 35 days.

Additionally, both men and women’s swimming and diving teams will swim at Green Bay this Saturday. Both teams are coming off commanding victories over Augustana, whom they played homecoming weekend.

The win over Augustana was the Tommies first meet as a Division I team. The men beat Augustana 170-110, and the women beat them 178-120.
