Thousands of fans walked through the gates at Allianz field Saturday to watch the 89th Tommie-Johnnie game. The Johnnies defeated the Tommies in the final quarter with two touchdowns from Johnnie running back, Kai Barber. St. Thomas jumped out to an early lead and held on for a 14-13 halftime advantage. The Johnnies scored first coming out of haltime, just two minutes in with a 2-yard touchdown by tight end Tyler Johnson. St. Thomas’ loss will substantially hurt its playoff chances with two losses this year to UW-Eau Claire and St. John’s. The game had attendance over 19,000, the second highest attendance in a Division Three game.

In other sports, Tommie women’s soccer dominated against St. Scholastica Sunday night with a score of 5-1. Junior Midfielder, Kate Heimer scored twice for the Tommies. The team is currently 5-1-1 in the MIAC standings. The women host St. Benedict this Wednesday at 3:30.
