The NCAA has established a new COVID-19 medical advisory group of infectious disease, public health and medical experts, according to its website. The group, which joins all NCAA divisions, will provide guidance on training, practice and competition to its member schools. It will meet at least once a week and periodically produce public information.

The Minnesota Vikings hosted the family of George Floyd, whose death in May sparked nationwide Black Lives Matter protests, at their game against the Green Bay Packers yesterday. Before the game, Vikings players locked arms in the end zone, and at least six Vikings knelt during the National Anthem. The team said that the Gjallarhorn, which has sounded before every game since 2007, was silent “to call attention to these silenced voices.”

The Big Ten Conference presidents met Sunday to discuss the potential for a fall football season. The meeting broke up with no vote or plan to reconvene. On August 11, the Big Ten released a statement on postponing its 2020-21 fall sports season, while other major conferences continued competition. If the conference acts quickly, the season could start as soon as the October 17 weekend, and an eight-game season with a December conference championship is still possible. That schedule could set up Big Ten teams to be part of the college football playoff.
