Senior outside hitter Fran Egan had a team-leading seven kills in a three set loss to the University of Minnesota Thursday in the Diet Coke Classic at Maturi Pavilion in Minneapolis.

Egan’s seven kills were accompanied by six kills from first-year outside hitter Lauren Galvin, who also had a team-leading five digs.

This marked the first Division I competition for St. Thomas (1-8) against No. 11 ranked Minnesota (4-3) ending with a score of 25-14, 25-8 and 25-7.

The St. Thomas men’s and women’s basketball programs unveiled its inaugural Division I schedules on Monday.

The men’s team will play 30 games while the women will play 29. Each team will play 18 Summit League games while the men have 12 non-conference games and the women have 11.

The Tommies will face some tough opponents; the women’s team opens their season against Wisconsin on Nov. 10, and the men’s team will face 2021 Sweet 16 team Oral Roberts on Jan. 6 and again later in the season.
