Spring election information released, clubs funded at April 5 USG meeting

The St. Thomas Undergraduate Student Government approved funding for nine clubs and announced spring election information at its April 5 general council meeting.

Spring election packets are now available for all USG positions. The packets are due April 19 and campaigning will begin April 20. Voting will begin Thursday, April 26 at 8:00 a.m. with electronic ballots sent out by email and end at 4:00 p.m. Friday, April 27.

In internal club funding requests, USG approved $1,275.75 for St(Art) Club, $1,012.50 for the Electrical Engineering Club, $1,260 for Dance Club, $940 for Sustainability Club, and $560 for the Veterans Association.

In campus-wide club funding requests, USG approved $6,860 for Pulse’s spring show and $8,595.20 for BESA’s Black Excellence Gala.

In conference and competition club funding requests, USG approved $900 for Dance Club’s Starpower talent competition and $90 for Tommie Strength’s Mid-America Regional Conference.

USG approved a request from sophomore class senator Jordan Carew to help fund an April 26 Bob Ross-themed painting party in conjunction with Off-Campus Student Services. USG will contribute $425 to provide food and painting supplies. On-campus students, off-campus students, and permanent neighborhood residents are all encouraged to attend.

The next USG general council meeting will take place over convo hour April 19 in the Murray-Herrick Center’s Board of Trustees room on the third floor. USG meetings are free and open to the public.
