St. Paul voters elect city council members; pass 1% sales tax

Voters across Minnesota took to the polls on Tuesday, Nov. 7, to vote in the 2023 general election.

St. Paul voters selected seven City Council members.

The following results were last updated at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 8.

Council Members Elected:

Ward 1: Anika Bowie is leading the race with 39.71%
Ward 2: Rebecca Noecker – 63.36%
Ward 3: Saura Jost – 48.48%
Ward 4: Mitra Jalali – 79.44%
Ward 5: Hwa Jeong Kim – 51.95%
Ward 6: Nelsie Yang – 61.48%
Ward 7: Cheniqua Johnson – 41.15%

St. Paul voters also elected four school board members out of seven candidates. Chauntyll Allen and Yusef Carrillo were re-elected on the board, with newly elected members Carlo Franco and Erica Valliant.

St. Paul voters also passed a ballot measure establishing a 1% sales and use tax. The measure passed with 60.19% of voters in approval.
