2012 Tommie Award nominee: Greg Scharine

Greg Scharine, business operations and supply chain management major, 3.24 GPA  111115_SCHARINE

Scharine is from Greenfield, Wis. near Milwaukee. His activities at St. Thomas include Undergraduate Student Government (freshman class senator, sophomore class president, vice president of financial affairs and president) Student Alumni Council, Students Today Leaders Forever, Students in Free Enterprise, Board of Trustee student liaison, Catholic Men’s Leadership, Knights of Columbus, Track and Field, Judiciary Hearing Board, Tommie Ambassador, tour guide, Tommie Blogger and Admissions Student-to-Student Communicator.

Scharine’s accomplishments include making the Dean’s List fall 2009 and 2010, Kaizen Project Team member with Dr. John Olson (January term 2011) and studying abroad in London (J-term 2012).

Scharine said one interesting fact about himself is having seen Dave Matthews Band “at least once every year since 2006. From 2009 to 2010, I saw DMB five times at locations in Iowa, Wisconsin and Minnesota.”

Scharine said students should “have a Mary’s Sandwich from the Binz or participate in the Ireland Hall Teeter-totter Marathon” before they graduate from St. Thomas.

After graduation, Scharine said he plans to work for Nestlé’s Procurement and Purchasing Group.

“I hope to travel the world and one day be the CEO of a Fortune 500 Company,” Scharine added.
