St. Thomas football added seven new student-athletes from across the country to its roster Monday on National Signing Day.

The student-athletes joined a Tommie program that placed third in the Pioneer Football League with a 7-3 record in its inaugural Division I season.

The Tommies received multiple all-conference and academic all-conference honors, along with PFL Offensive and Defensive Newcomer awards for the 2021 season. As for the new signees, several of them have been named to all-league and all-district teams.

“The opportunity that we have embraced as a first-year Division I university is special,” coach Glenn Caruso said in a statement to TommieSports. “It takes a lot of people believing in common values to attempt an unprecedented task like this.”

None of the seven student-athletes are from Minnesota; three come from California while the others hail from Texas, Illinois, Arizona and Maryland. They added to the 28 other signees that joined the program in December.

Amari Powell, and December signee, Travis Plugge will add to a young quarterback room that includes sophomores Branden Smith and Kristoff Kowalkowski.
