A car crash that occurred around 12:15 p.m. disrupted traffic for an hour after a stolen car collided with a gray Honda at the intersection between Cretin and Marshall Avenues on Thursday.

The driver of the gray Honda was evaluated for arm injuries that did not require hospitalization, according to Sgt. Mike Ernster of the St. Paul Police Department. Ernster said the man driving the stolen car fled the scene.

Ernster said the recently-stolen car was traveling east on Marshall Avenue and failed to stop for the stoplight at Cretin Avenue, where it struck and overturned the Honda.

According to Ernster, a third vehicle in the turn lane to go west on Marshall Avenue was also hit.

Eyewitness Ken Brose said that he was on the sidewalk on Marshall Avenue when it happened.

“I came over here and there was just tons of glass,” Brose said.

Brose said he was on the sidewalk on Marshall Avenue walking toward Snelling Avenue when it happened. He said the stolen vehicle sped past him at a high speed.

All three vehicles were towed and the intersection was cleared around 1:15 p.m.
