Winter sports update schedule after postponements

All St. Thomas games scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 13 have been postponed due to COVID-19 protocols, St. Thomas Athletics said in a statement Friday.

Men’s and women’s hockey and basketball encounter more postponements while track and field prepare to add a meet on Friday Feb. 19.

The St. Thomas women’s hockey game against Bethel, originally set for Saturday, Feb. 13, is their fourth postponement of the 2021 season.

The women’s hockey team is scheduled to begin their season Sunday at College of St. Benedict and to play their home opener Wednesday at 7:30 p.m., in a non-conference game against Hamline in Mendota Heights.

Men’s hockey (1-0 overall, 0-0 MIAC) faced another week of postponements as both the Saturday, Feb. 13 MIAC game at Bethel and the Wednesday, Feb. 17 home game against Concordia are now postponed.

Men’s hockey are tentatively scheduled to play St. John’s at home on Saturday, Feb. 20.

Women’s basketball’s (2-0 overall, 1-0 MIAC) scheduled 2 p.m. home game against Gustavus on Saturday is now postponed.

That team is now scheduled to play on the road, competing on Saturday, Feb. 20 at St. Mary’s.

Men’s basketball (2-0 overall, 1-0 MIAC) also had their Saturday game at Gustavus postponed.

The team is now tentatively scheduled to open their home season Saturday, Feb. 20 against St. Mary’s.

St. Thomas track and field added a home meet Friday, Feb. 19, competing against Hamline in the Anderson Fieldhouse.

Women’s track and field will begin competing at 4 p.m., with the men’s team following at 6 p.m.
