COVID-19 UPDATE: 7 new cases last week, 88% vaccination rate

Seven positive COVID-19 cases were reported by St. Thomas’ Center for Well-Being during the fourth week of classes.

Five cases were students and two were employees. Six cases came from the St. Paul campus and one from the Minneapolis campus. The Center for Well-Being also reported that St. Thomas currently has an 88% university-wide vaccination rate.

As of September 27, 92.3% of university employees are vaccinated and 87.2% of students are vaccinated.

The Minnesota Department of Health reported as of September 27, that 3,398,906 Minnesotans have had at least one vaccine dose, and 3,227,882 have completed the vaccine series. 70.1% of Minnesotans age 18 and up have completed the vaccine series.

According to the COVID-19 Dashboard, the cases are within a manageable range and there is no evidence of transmission inside the classroom.
