Fondakowski, special teams lift Tommies to 41-13 halftime lead

Defensive back Chris Fondakowski blocked a punt and returned it 16 yards for a touchdown Saturday at O’Shaughnessy Stadium as St. Thomas jumped out to a 41-13 halftime lead over Bethel.

Fondakowski’s block was one of two in the half for the Tommies. He also recovered a blocked PAT that led to a two-point score for St. Thomas.

Tommie quarterback Jacques Perra threw three touchdowns and 176 yards to jump-start the Tommies offense. Gabe Green led the team with 60 yards and a touchdown on two receptions.

Bethel wide receiver Joel Koenecke returned a 93-yard touchdown in the second quarter for the Royals second touchdown of the game.

The Tommies are 8-2 against the Royals in the past decade.
