One person is dead and another is critically injured in a shooting on a public bus in downtown Minneapolis.

The Metro Transit bus was stopped near Target Center when a suspect boarded and shot the two victims, according to police, who said it appears the two were targeted by the suspect.

One victim died at the scene and the other was rushed to Hennepin Healthcare with life-threatening injuries, according to police spokesman John Elder.

More than 300,000 homes and businesses in the southeastern United States were without power early Friday after a powerful storm raked the region. At least five people were killed.

Forecasters warned that the storm system could bring gusts of 50 to 60 miles per hour from the Carolinas into New England, potentially toppling rain-soaked trees and making driving hazardous.

The St. Thomas dance team took home its second straight double national championship at the UCA & UDA College Cheerleading & Dance Team National Championship January 17-19 in Orlando, Florida.
