The St. Thomas football team announced its 2022 schedule Monday as it looks to build off an impressive 7-3 overall record from its inaugural Division I season in the Pioneer Football League last fall.

The season begins on Sept. 1 at Southern Utah, an FBS team in the Western Athletic Conference who finished 1-10 in the Big Sky last season. The Tommies will then return to O’Shaughnessy Stadium for two games, split up by the team’s bye week. October features three home games, including homecoming on Oct. 15 against Drake and a game against the 2021 conference champion, Davidson, on Oct. 8.

St. Thomas men’s hockey coach Rico Blasi joined TommieMedia’s Sam Larson on an episode of The Locker Room Thursday to discuss recruits and the transition to Division 1.

Blasi looked back on the hardships of playing against CCHA powerhouses like the Minnesota State-Mankato Mavericks as a lesson going into next season.

The Mavericks defeated the University of Minnesota 5-1 Thursday in the Frozen Four semifinals to advance to the championship game against denver.

The University of St. Thomas has a flurry of five home games this weekend as baseball takes on North Dakota State and softball plays the University of South Dakota.

Softball plays two games Saturday and one Sunday. Baseball plays one each day.
