St. Thomas goalkeeper Sarah Pasternak recorded eight saves in the Tommies’ second round game of the NCAA tournament, helping them defeat Illinois Wesleyan University 1-0 Sunday afternoon at South Field.

Midfielder Ellie Eskeirka scored the lone goal of the game in the 38th minute; St. Thomas’ second 1-0 victory in a two day span.

The Tommies advance to the Sweet Sixteen of the 2019 Dlll NCAA tournament and will play Wheaton College next weekend. Location and time are TBD.

On Senior Day, a fourth quarter, 32-yard field goal by senior Vinny Pallini secured No. 17 St. Thomas’ 17-7 victory over No. 9 Bethel Saturday at O’Shaughnessy Stadium, giving the Tommies a share of the MIAC title with No. 8 ranked St. John’s.

No. 15 ranked St Thomas men’s hockey defeated the St Olaf Oles 9-3 at the St Thomas Ice Arena Saturday.

First-time scorer Matt Christian scored the game’s first goal, giving the Tommies a lead in the first period.

The Tommies take on No. 5 ranked Bethel next weekend at home.

On Sunday the Vikings came back from a 20-0 deficit to beat the Denver Broncos. Kirk Cousins came back in the second half to throw for three touchdowns.
